Delaware County, Pennsylvania Magisterial District Courts

Throughout Delaware County, there are different Magisterial District Courts. While the courts tend to handle different kinds of cases, criminal cases will start in these courts. Preliminary arraignments and hearings in misdemeanor and felony cases will begin here as well.

Delaware County Magisterial District Courts work with the least serious offenses or summary offenses. Some of these include:

  •         Criminal Mischief
  •         Harassment
  •         Disorderly Conduct
  •         Driving with a Suspended License
  •         Retail Theft under $150 (first offense)

The judges in these courts, interestingly enough, can also perform marriages and administer oaths.

Don’t underestimate the charges and penalties that you can face in these courts – they are serious. You will need a skilled Delaware County lawyer on your side to help you. Even minor offenses can cause you big problems, whether you have to pay a fine (up to $300 in these courts), go to jail (up to 180 days), or suffer penalties in your daily life (suspension of license, community service), a lawyer can help you to fight for your rights and plead your case.

Experienced, Effective Delaware County Criminal Defense Attorneys at Benari Law Group

If you aren’t facing a great penalty, you might think about pleading guilty to an offense so that you can simply move on with your life. If it seems black and white to you, you might even think that you don’t need representation with experience or that you can represent yourself.

However, this isn’t true: the outcome of this case can be critically important to your life and you need to give yourself the best chance to succeed.

Without adequate representation, you might end up in jail, which can completely derail your life. You might lose important relationships, end up unemployed, or have a criminal record that can follow you around for a long time.

Life savers.
Arik Benari and the Benari Law Firm are life savers from my standpoint. They fought for me when I was in a position to lose my ability to support my family over a frivolous situation that occurred some 25 years ago. They worked expeditiously, and were very sensitive to my financial situation. I would recommend them highly to family and friends.
